Yael Ronen - Flutist
Yael Ronen holds a bachelor of music degree from the Rubin Academy of Music at Tel Aviv University, and a master of music from Sacramento State University. She also studied with William Bennett and Trevor Wye in London for two years. She has performed with many chamber ensembles throughout Europe, including appearances at the Piccadilly Festival, City of London Festival in England and Music Unlimited à La Valette in Belgium. Ms. Ronen has recorded for the BBC, The Australian Broadcasting Commission and The Israeli National Radio. In Israel, she has freelanced with all the major orchestras including The Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra and the Israel Philharmonic, under conductors such as Zubin Mehta and Leonard Bernstein. Presently she resides in California where, after serving for three years as the principal flutist with the Camellia Orchestra in Sacramento, she is now principal flutist with the North State Symphony, principal flutist and soloist with the Apollo Orchestra, and a flute teacher on the Faculty staff at Chico State University. Ms. Ronen maintains an active career teaching and performing recitals and chamber music both in California and Europe. A CD of her recording together with flutist Idit Shemer of the six sonatas for two flutes by W.F. Bach was produced by Empire Master Sound, Belgium. Burke Schuchmann – cellist Burke Schuchmann studied in London with William Pleeth for five years. He also studied for extended periods of time with Margaret Rowell and Colin Hampton. After finishing his studies in England, he became Principal Cellist and soloist with the Salzburger Solisten in Austria. He has performed extensively as a soloist and chamber musician in Europe and the United States. He served as principal cellist for the Sacramento Philharmonic. Mr. Schuchmann is currently the artistic director of the Palomarin Chamber Music Foundation and conducts the Berkeley and Marin Chamber Music Workshops as well as a chamber music workshop near Siena, Italy. He has recently inaugurated an all-cello workshop ("Cello Heaven") in Mendocino. Mr. Schuchmann has taught on the faculties of California State University, Chico (CSUC) and at the University of California, Berkeley and is currently on the staff of the San Domenico School's Conservatory of Music. Aileen James began her formal training at the age of five. She holds both Bachelor and Master degrees from Pacific Union College and a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Performance from Stanford University. Further studies have been at USC, the Schubert Institute in Austria, and the Royamount Music Festival in France. She is an acclaimed performer as soloist, duo-pianist, chamber musician and accompanist. Dr. James has studied with Adolph Baller of the Alma Trio and Menahem Pressler of the Beaux Arts Trio. Dr. James has been a private teacher for 40 years and has served on the faculties of Pacific Union College, Stanford and Santa Clara Universities. From 1986 - 1997 she was the Artistic Director of the American Pianists Association in Indianapolis, heading its Biennial National Piano Fellowship Competition and fellowship program. Currently, Aileen resides in Grass Valley and remains active with frequent performance engagements throughout Northern California, her private teaching studio, and serving on Twin Cities Concert Association's and Music in the Mountain's Boards of Directors. |
